Insuring the Uninsurable

If you have a particularly dangerous occupation, or have had difficulty in finding insurance because of your past medical history, you may need to consider taking out a special risk policy.

You would usually need to consider a special risk insurance policy for one of the following three reasons:

A) You, as an individual, pose a particular risk. For instance, if you suffer from, or have been diagnosed with a specific illness

B) Your occupation carries a high risk, i.e. you are a fireman, oil rig worker or member of the armed forces

C) You wish to do something that carries a high risk, such as climbing a mountain, driving a racing car or by being appointed as a bodyguard in a hostile environment

Insuring The Uninsurable

General insurance companies will not write standard policies that include these sorts of risks as part of the cover. Each risk has to be assessed individually and so we will endeavour to present your policy to a Lloyd’s underwriter who is willing to undertake your particular risk.

As these types of policies are very specific to the individual, we can only quote you a premium after receiving details of the exact nature of the risk and the type of cover you require.
